Antihistamines/Periactin for sexual side effects?

Posted by Janelle on April 10, 2004, at 13:49:34

I told my pdoc about sexual side effects I've been experiencing on Celexa (SSRI) and she suggested that I could take an antihistamine called Periactin to help with this. A previous pdoc had also recommended an antihistamine (a different one, I can't remember the name).

I already feel like a walking drugstore, I really do not want to add a med just to offset another, although I would not be taking the Periactin on a regular basis.

I suppose I could explore switching to Wellbutrin as my AD, but SSRI's help me and I hear negative things about Wellbutrin so I'm scared to rock the boat.

Has anyone tried the antihistamine approach to offset sexual side effects from an SSRI? If so, did it help?

Thanks.
