If you're using sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to potentiate the effects and increase the duration of action of Adderall, Dexedrine, DextroStat, or Desoxyn (like I was), I highly suggest switching to Alka-Seltzer Gold instead. It contains no aspirin -- its contents are 958mg heat-treated sodium bicarbonate, 832mg citric acid, and 312mg potassium bicarbonate per tablet. When effervesced in water, it principally forms sodium citrate and potassium citrate, two urinary alkalinizers that are vastly preferable to sodium bicarbonate.
Another tip: buy nitrazine test strips, normally used by bladder cancer patients, to test your urine pH. In order for urinary alkalinization to be effective at increasing the amount of non-ionized amines, urinary pH should be at 8. Don't go higher thinking it will be more effective -- this is dangerous, and contrary to popular belief, the pH scale is not linear. That is, while it is calculated 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 and so on, the fact is that our bodies go into self-protective mode at a pH above nine. Thus, the scale is more like 5-6-7-8-9-5-6-7-8-9-5. So taking *too* much is not only dangerous, but counterproductive as well -- hence the importance of monitoring urinary pH both to pinpoint the perfect dose of a urinary alkinizing agent for your body as well as to determine your proper dosing frequency to maintain that level of alkalinity while the amphetamine is doing its job.
Here are some additional things that can help maintain an alkaline biochemistry:
*Take a cold bath/shower, use soap -- it alkalinizes; avoid hot baths/showers.
*Avoid cranberrys, grapefruits, oranges, and other citrus fruits and juices; most other juices are alkaline -- pineapple for example.
*Drink fresh vegetable juice
*Avoid drinking distilled or purified water -- opt instead for mineral or spring water.
*Try taking large doses of B-vitamins -- especially niacinamide and calcium pantothenate; avoid vitamin C, pantothenic acid, nicotinic acid, and betaine HCl (aka trimethylglycine/TMG); also avoid acidifying calcium salts, such as calcium acetate, calcium citrate, calcium ascorbate, calcium actate, and calcium hydroxyapatite.
*Drink chamomile, peppermint, fenugreek, red clover, or hibiscus herbal teas; avoid spearmint and raspberry teas.
*Take a mineral bath: 2 lbs. baking soda plus 2 lbs. of either table salt or Epsom salt should be mixed in the water; soak for one hour.
*Though I normally don't think baking soda's a good idea, this seems reasonable: drink 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp cream of tartar, and the juice of half a lemon in 4 oz water (remember the rules for water listed above).
*Avoid drinking soda -- though it may be enticing as the carbonation pushes the amphetamine into your system more quickly, the phosphates contained in soda are acidic.
*Try the homeopathic remedy Natrum phosphoricum (phosphate of soda). Nat. phos. decomposes lactic acid into carbonic acid and water, then binds to carbonic acid and carries it to the lungs where oxygen picks it up and excretes it from the body through exhalation. It also is necessary for the dissolution of uric acid in blood.
*Meditating, chanting, singing, or deep-breathing can help.
