connection with people and meds

Posted by Francesco on January 14, 2004, at 13:09:18

I don't know if this is a common side effect but I have experienced with all the meds I've taken a detachment from 'the others' and a lessing of my ability to understand people's feelings (and to react properly to them). The cognitive side usually improves a lot but the emotional side worsens. I know this can be a dumb generalization but I'm wondering if this is a feature of *all* the meds. Do they make you more efficient because they make you less emotional ?

I hope this is not the case so I would be glad to know if there are people out there who don't experience this 'side effect' or have a rational explaination of why this seem to happen to me.

what follows is the list of the meds I have taken to address my adhd-like syntoms. without meds I'm not usually depressed but I can't do almost anything that requires a little concentration and/or pianification.

Anafranil (for years)
Prozac (for six months)
Celexa (for a couple of months)
Paxil (for a couple of months)
Zyban (Wellbutrin)
Serenase (for a while)
Ritalin (for a while)
Remeron (currently)
Desipramine (currently)
Imipramine (for a while)
