Nystagmus treatments

Posted by jms600 on January 11, 2004, at 10:11:27

This question isn't really related to mental illness, but does anyone know of any drugs which are successful in the treatment of congenital Nystagmus (involuntary shaking of the eyeballs)??

I suffer from Nystagmus, which impairs my vision enough to prevent me from learning to drive. I've seen several specialists regarding this, but they said there is little they can do.

I've heard that Neurotin and other anti-epilepsy drugs have been found to have some success in treating Nystagmus, but my doctor won't prescribe them to me, as they are not licensed to treat Nystagmus.

I could always buy them privately from a website, but I would like to know if anyone who suffers from Nystagmus, has had any success with particular drugs before I try anything.
