Whiplash, be advised Wellbutrin and Lexapro go in completely different directions! Each has proven effective for people where the other hasn't. Each must be given a fair chance. The question is, which one do you try first?
I'd try the Lexapro. It's the latest and greatest of the SSRIs, with the mildest side effects and yet an excellent track record of effectiveness.
Wellbutrin is not an SSRI. For many it works well but it never agreed with me. That does NOT mean it won't work for you!
From my personal experience, which could be completely different from yours, I'd recommend the Lexapro and giving it a good TWO MONTHS to see if it is beneficial.
The side effects will take a couple of weeks to wear off or go away (side effects vary with individuals -- for me it was sweating and sleepiness, both of which are nearly gone after two weeks). As with any SSRI, the actual effect of the medication is complex and subtle, and you have to give it time. It's not like taking an aspirin for a headache!
Whichever way you decide to go, good luck! Let's hope 2004 is your turnaround year.
