I took Celexa for years. If finally stopped working. Now I am using Wellbutrin. It is energizing for me but does very little to relieve my sadness.
Anyway, Celexa is a SSRI, so it helps out the Serotonin. Wellbutrin is NOT an SSRI, but it works on I think, the dopemine?
So the combination helps replace two of the four chemicals the brain needs to fight off depression.
Sounds to me like it's ok as long as it's working. Since your not taking two SSRIs you probably don't have to worry about Serotonin Syndrome--very bad stuff.
So give it a shot. The Celexa might be calming, the Wellbutin, energizing--but watch out for increased anxiety from the Wellbutrin. That's a common side-effect. It usually goes away, but if it doesn't then it's probably not the drug to use or try a lower dose. (I'd stay away from Effexor though, it can be very nasty.)
