Dexedrine and Adderall are generally pretty benign where side effects are concerned (especially when compared to so many other psych drugs). The most common side effects experienced with either of these drugs include: hyperactivity, insomnia, restlessness, talkativeness, headache, chills, dizziness, stimulation, false sense of well-being, dysphoria, irritability, agressiveness, tremor, palpitations, tachycardia, hypertension, dysrhythmias, decreased heart rate, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, dry mouth, diarrhea, constipation, weight loss, metallic taste, cramps, impotence, change in libido, and urticaria. Generally though, these side effects are mild in nature and of course you are very unlikely to experience many of them -- stimulation, euphoria, weight loss, hyperactivity, restlessness, talkativeness, tachycardia and hypertension are probably the most common side effects associated with amphetamines.

Amphetamines can help you to lose weight, but they become basically useless for that purpose after a few weeks (or, at most, months). They vastly decrease appetite and provide you with extra, artificial energy at first, but this effect dies down very quickly. Maybe you would be better off trying some other sympathomimetic weight loss drugs such as phentermine (which can also be wonderful for increased mood; I've even heard it compared to ecstasy!). Should you decide to go the Dexedrine/Adderall route though, there are things you can take to help prevent a tolerance to the appetite-suppressant effects.

The only way to get an amphetamine legally is by bringing a prescription to your pharmacy -- sorry. :-)

I take Adderall XR 30mg and find it works wonderfully at reducing appetite; even after months taking its sister drug, Dexedrine. I seem not to have developed a tolerance to this effect as of yet. <knock on wood>
