I'm confused. Isn't tramadol supposed to relieve pain?

> Thanks for the well-wishing... mentally I still am doing well, aside from the sluggishness of thought that the withdrawal is causing. The tramadol/DXM combination was really great, but the pain it was bringing on was unrelenting. It's been getting worse and worse for the past few months, and for the past three weeks I've been in the process of moving. Really sucks not being able to move boxes more than a few feet at a time at 20 years old. I dunno, I suppose I could just stay on the tramadol and add another opioid to address the pain issue, but I'm really trying to limit how many pills I have to take. Worst comes to worst, I end up stuck on the tramadol and supplementing with morphine. The Duragesic patches are just horrible... I wouldn't even consider staying with these. They help the pain tremendously, but they turn my brain to mush. Not the fun, floaty, opiate heaven way unfortunately. The fentanyl just makes me feel demented on top of it all, lol.
