Methylphenidate non plus ultra?

Posted by DSCH on October 11, 2003, at 14:37:23

From Novartis Pharmaceuticals comes Focalin, which is 100% d-thereo-methylphenidate hydrochloride as opposed to the 50/50 d-thereo-/l-thereo- racemic of Ritalin. It is apparantly in the form of simple tablets.

From McNeil/ALZA comes Concerta which is racemic methylphenidate in the form of OROS extended-release tablets.

Any prospects of d-thero-methylphenidate becoming available in some extended release form? That would appear to be "non plus ultra" as far as this compound is concerned. :-)
