I was on Accutane nearly 20 years ago for acne. Depression was horrible - but I never really knew that's where it came from until many years later. I actually attempted suicide and wound up in a psych ward for six weeks. It wasn't until late 2001 that my mother and I discovered that the Accutane was likely something significant that added to my depression. There was a teenager who flew a small airplane into a highrise in Florida. Fortunately, he only killed himself and no one else. It was discovered that he was on Accutane. That's when my mother and I felt as though my attempt years ago may have been compounded by Accutane.
I also had the extreme dryness effect. I could literally peel layers of my lips off and the only thing that worked was Vaseline. I had constant nose bleeds too. Be careful in the sun. I was an idiot know it all teenager and went to the beach - wound up with sun poisening and heat stroke due to extreme sensitivity to sun.
About two year ago I FINALLY found my acne solution. Pro-Active has kept my acne under control . . . I could be in one of their infomercials. The best part is - it doesn't contribute to depression because it isn't ingested.
Good luck & keep us posted.
