Paxil CR vs Paxil?

Posted by ELENI4 on September 22, 2003, at 21:07:45

I was prescribed Paxil after not being able to tolerate Lexapro. However when I went to get the prescrption filled, I noticed it was for Paxil CR. The pharmacists tried to assure me that it was the same as Paxil, but I know CR/XR versions can actually differ from the original versions. For me, Effexor XR was way more effective and less harsh than regular Effexor. However on the flip side, I've run into some people who cannot tolerate Paxil CR, but absolutely loved Paxil. I'm seriously considering asking my doctor to switch the prescription, but wanted to get some additional input first.
