BP AND SSRIs/ Some say BAD combo, any ideas?

Posted by Ima on August 28, 2003, at 14:52:25

As I read this and other similar sites, I have found a high percentage of people who feel that BPs dont do well on SSRIs.
Can someone help me with this question? Is this is anecdotal or is there research to support it?
I believe I am BP probably 2 and the only SSRI Ive taken did make me more manic.
Ive had that response with Tramadol also.(the tramadol I take for pain)
If I take tramadol to late in the day I cant sleep.
If BPs should not take SSRIs, then Im thinking I should probably discontinue the Tramadol.
What do you think?
I also have bouts of anxiety. I dont see that listed under symptoms of BP.
Should that be treated as a seperate condition?
Is it possible one med could deal with both?
Sorry so many questions at once.
thanx
peace
Ima
