I have been taking Effexor for almost 4 weeks now. I love it. It seems to be the only anti-depressant that seems to work and quick. I do have side effects but they aren't bad enough to make me want to stop. I am suffering from insomnia so I am also taking restoril. Even with that I only get 4 hours of sleep. If I don't take it I get 0. Does the insomnia wear off? I don't want to have to stop taking it. Will increasing the dose help? I am taking 75mg twice a day.

> Effexor raised my blood pressure so monitor yours carefully. The side effects (SE's) aren't fun. Mine usually took 2-3 weeks to fade away after each dosage increase. Take Benedryl at night if you have insomnia or if you get the early morning wakeups (3:00 am). <~ that's a strange one. Appetite decrease is fairly common along with an upset tummy. I stuck with Effexor through all these SE's because it worked fairly quickly on my anxiety & stress at work. I sure yawned alot though. :) If you decide not to stick with Effexor, taper off slowly to avoid withdrawal.
