effexor, motivation, cognitive ability

Posted by DissTired on July 30, 2003, at 2:17:27

Hi,

I have tried every medicine in the book and currently on a VERY small dosage of effexor. This drug works for me in terms of making me less depressed (the only drug in a while that does) but the side effects are too much at even 37.5 mgs. My Qs are these.

What drugs work best for low motivation (I have a dissertation to finish, but can't seem to care enough about it when on effexor)?

I know there are word recall probs on effexor. I can't spell anymore either. Do these go away when you stop taking it? Any research that anyone knows of on this issue?

Do others experience low cognitive ability on effexor, or is it maybe my depression, even though I don't feel all that bad (on my scale)?

Thanks in advance for any input.
