Hey Francys and Dani! and all!
WELCOME to the world of babble. It is a great place.
I am not doing so good at the moment, but coming on here picks me up a bit.
I also have BPII but have recently been diagnosed with BPI. (I'll stick with BPII!)I also have OCD.
Just to let you know some of my experiences with the meds...
I began with severe depression, which was treated with a high dose of Cipramil (citalopram), which did nothing for me. I started cutting myself very badly while on that drug.
I was put on Zyprexa (Olanzapine) - antipsychotic, which put alot of weight on. I found it to be very sedating.
I then moved on to Effexor extended release (Venlafaxine) which sent me completely manic. I was put on to a mood stablizer: Lithium, with the Effexor, which kept me pretty well for a year or so. It was a good combination, but I didn't like the way that Lithium dulled my senses.
I stopped the lithium against the advice of my p.doc and have recently been mani/hypomanic, and have been put back on Zyprexa (yuk!)
I am going to start Trileptal (Oxcarbamazipine) for my new mood stabilizer.
I am starting fish oil today aswell, which I have been told about by the fantastic, well-read people here on babble!Hope this helps, and I hope that you guys get as much out of this site as I have. I've only been here for a few months!
