REPLY: My son has been on Adderall a couple of times. He has always taken it with food at breakfast and it seems to kick in within a hour, sometimes within a half hour. My doctor has never told us specifically to take the medication before eating.
Most of the time it is recommended to take medication with food or milk because with many people pills are hard on the stomach. Yet my husband seems to be able to take medicaion anytime he wants without even using water to swallow a pill. Everybody is different.
If you can tolerate taking a pill on an empty stomach and it seems to give you better results, then you should do what works for you.
