Novel Way To Artificially Lower Cortisol

Posted by davpet on June 11, 2003, at 14:05:41

Check out this link of the use of anti-glucocorticoids in depression . In the one study they used aminoglutethimide to suppress endogenous cortisol and then added just enough synthetic cortisol to keep cortisol within the low-normal range, thus creating a net reduction in cortisol levels (so as not to interrupt negative feedback inhibition , but to allow for glucocorticoid-receptor up-regulation due to lower hormone exposure)
