Paxil, Paxil CR, when to raise dose, SP

Posted by utopizen on March 19, 2003, at 2:00:45

Hey.

I've been on Effexor, Wellbutrin and Celexa at high doses for months (individually) for my social phobia and never noticed any difference.

My doc is trying to have me see his colleague, who'll likely put me on Klonopin, an AP, an AD, and possibly Nardil if we can deal with it while on a stim.

In the meantime, I started me on Paxil. I tried it last summer a few days after going off Celexa after taking 20mg of that for 8 months to no avail. Well I got vivid nightmares that were likely from the Celexa withdrawl, but we both thought it was Paxil at the time and stopped Paxil.

Well I just took 10mg tonight and will do so for the next few nights, then start a 20mg dose every night. He said to go slow b/c I'm sensitive to vivid nightmares when I start or stop meds. He said that's common in anxiety disorders.

Well is anyone at all helped by Paxil when other SSRIs, Effexor, Wellbutrin failed completely? And did anyone start Paxil CR and notice any difference? I vaguely thought about it but didn't bother asking my doc about CR, he just wrote for Paxil. I figure if I have to pay the brand name co-pay anyway, I may as well get the CR next time.

When should I think about raising my dose? I'd like to try up to 40mg before going off. I was thinking maybe like 20mg the first month, 30mg the second and then 40mg the third.
