Abilify and Anxiety/Depression

Posted by boatsie on March 17, 2003, at 17:34:39

My psychiatarist this am reported on attending meeting at Stanford and is really excited about abilify. I've been with this dr for seven years now and have gone through a wide sprectrum of drugs for depression/anxiety/borderline personality including paxil (60 mg), with ativan (2) and trazadone (50mg) .... switched recently to effexor still with ativan and trazadone.

Doing much better, finally, awake, motivated, more centered,;more energy but still struggling with mania, addictions to nicotene (which resurfaced after 15 years off I belive as a result of ativan use) ... moved some wellbutrin into cocktail in november but am now down to very low dose because it reactivated my cortisol overactivity ....

so, with all i've been reading in earlier posts on abilify I AM NOW very frightened about starting. She said its so new for this treatment (ie anxiety, depression) that dosages are uncertain so I am to start with 5 mgs.

The side effects I am reading about have me really frightened. I'm hoping to be able to overcom emy manias, my sugar cravings and nicotene cravings and be more level....

any feed back would sure be appreciated.

I would also appreciate any feedback regarding memory loss and long term use of meds .... and can this be recovered?
