> Wow, Ace, I may have to follow you. . . . I have been considering Nardil for quite some time. What is most amazing is that if you do an internet search on Nardil, it is 90% positive things . . .

I have never seen any body not respond to this med unless they have not given it a proper trial (1-12 weeks, 90mg might be needed)

and half the negatives are people saying they had to get off it for some reason and wish they could get back on it because of its great efficacy. Ok, I got some questions for you Ace, or anyone else.

> 1. How long have you been on it? How long did it take to get an AD response?

It took 6 weeks to get the AD reaction. 4 of those weeks were at 60mg. 60mg gave me a very good AD response, and anti-phobic response. OCD was moderately helped with this dose. We have upped the dose to 90mg. Just short of a week, already OCD has been helped. At 90mg for 4 weeks ocd will be gone. Been on it for around 2 months.

> 2. What were the initial side effects like? How do they compare to other drugs, particularly SSRIs?

Here is my s/e in chronological order. On Zoloft I experienced no s/e at all the 1st time. The 2nd time GI distress.

1.Difficutly sleeping (the 1st night only)
2.Cognitive problems - impaired memory, concentration, confusion, disorientation.
3.Loss of pleasure in enjoyable activities.
4.Sore throat, flu-like syptoms, drowsiness, apathy, mild anhedonia.
5. misplace things, co-ordination impaired, speech difficulties -- drunk-like behaviour (but did NOT feel drunk)
6.chest pain, stomach pain
7. dry mouth.
8.Dark urine.
9.Appetite for food decreased.
10. disturbed sleep (woke up during night, due to REM interference -- this has now passed)
11. after smoking tobacco, dizziness, headspin (still around a little at times)
12. sex drive decreased (it was increased for a while)
13. Constipation.
14. sense of time distortion (days felt like one)
15. VERY slight weight gain
16. Anorgasmia.

There are others but I forgot. Please, please don't let this scare you. The s/effects usually pasted quick (except constipation and anorgasmia, but there are things you CAN DO ABOUT THESE) Some people, Djmmm I think, have far less s/e. But, I tell you, I would gladly put up with A THOUSAND MORE FOR THE BENIFIT OF NARDIL!
My s/e now are anorgasmia, decreased sex drive and pronounce afternoon drowsiness (I like the drowsiness!)
> 3. How bad was the washout period between other drugs and Nardil?--this is what I am most worried about and why I am considering trying one more ssri before I go to Nardil.

My Zoloft washout was 2 weeks. I felt no decline it it's (lacklustre) benefits. The washout wasn't bad.

Thankyou!!
