I am replying to the previous two postings.Omega-3 is found mainly in fish oil but it is found too in a whole range of other foodstuffs like flax-seed oil or walnuts. In practice cold water fish such as mackerel and salmon (non-farmed) are good sources.
As regards the blood clotting the risk is minimal but fish oil makes the blood less sticky and so less likely to clot.If you are taking a medication such as warfarin to stop your blood from clotting you do not want to overdo it.For the other 99% of the population (excluding haemophiliacs and similar disorders)this anti-clotting effect helps to prevent strokes and heart attacks. Incidentally deaths shortly after the start of heart attacks are greatly reduced if you are on fish oil as it has a good effect on the rhythm of the heart too.
