omega-3 for Christmas

Posted by Ed O`Flaherty on December 15, 2002, at 15:48:39

The subject of omega-3 fish oil has cropped up numerous times on this board during the year and a few weeks ago it seemed to be the most prominent item.I thought that with Christmas coming on I might mention a few problems that it might help and if you have one of these you might give it a try and perhaps give yourself a happy Christmas.
In most but not all cases it is used as an additive to your present medication so do not stop taking your regular medication without your physician`s approval. It is unsuitable for those with a blood clotting problem or on anticoagulants.
For depression I would favor 1g daily-the total of EPA and DHA.Try more if necessary after a few weeks-up to 5g.
For bipolar try 5g daily.Increase to a maximum of 9g.if necessary.
For anxiety start on 1g and build up to 5g if necessary.
For OCD and Agoraphobia try 5g and adjust up or down between 1 and 9g as required.
For insomnia try 5g and vary it as required. On this board we have had several people who got bad dreams so stop it if you get those or try a smaller dose.
If you have been sexually abused try 3g and increase to 5g if necessary.
For Schizophrenia try 2g and increase to 5g if necessary.Try different doses over a period of many weeks to get the best benefit.
Some further suggestions are given on www.omega3.20megsfree.com
