I have been taking tianeptine for 4 months now. I note the same thing that you did- that you do get a lift 30-45 minutes after taking it. I can tell how short-acting it is, can't you? I started it because I have high cortisol levels, and tianeptine is supposed to protect the hippocampus from cortisol's damaging effects, according to animal studies- i.e. allowing the neurons to regain normal size and regrow normal-length dendrites and maybe even to begin regrowing the few thousand new neurons a day that it is supposed to when not under stress. I have seen reports that people continue to experience continued improvements on tianeptine for as long as a year after starting it. I think it is moderately effective as an AD, but for me, I also value the probable protective effect on the brain, and plan to continue with it.
