Yes, there is such a thing as bipolar disorder with only hypo or manic episodes- although it is fairly rare. The shrinks I have seen that have been experts in the field of bipolar have all told me they have had 1 or 2 patients like this. Sounds pretty good (actually I have far more manic than depressive episodes, which is more common in BP1 than BP2), but most of the damage caused by this disorder is the result of mania (not the milder or hypomanic episodes).
