Not an MAOI, but my mom (and me for that matter) were prescribed effexor before quitting smoking. It happened I was prescribed for OCD though. My mom also was on the patch and chewing nicotine gum. She has a prescription for Xanax too, but I don't know that she used it much. We doped her up good though. I know what you mean when you say cigarette junky. Cigarettes were going to kill my mother and fast if she didn't quit. It was horrible listening to her cough and wheeze. Anyway, she made it, it's been 5 years (me too, but I was nowhere near as badly addicted). She still chews the gum, but I, she, and our Dr. could care less. She's in wonderful health compared to before.
