Hi! I. too, was very puzzled that not one person on the board had a good, or even any, response to tianeptine. The studies from France indicate that it is on a par with fluoxetine- about a 70% response rate. I started taking it mainly to try to protect my hippocampus, which I was sure was rapidly aging and shrinking from all the excess cortisol! I have been amazed that it has been so effective as an anti-depressant. Of course, I've taken it for just for a few weeks, so it's too early to tell how effective it will be in the long run. In several months, I'll know a lot more about that. An encouraging thing- in France they were noting continuing further improvements in mood even after a year of treatment. As far as I can tell, no-one has tested either hippocampal size or cortisol levels in human beings taking this drug, but I'm going to make sure that they test me!
