In reply to Flu Vaccines and Depression???, posted by optimistic on September 18, 2002, at 13:02:43

> Has anybody ever heard of a relationship between the flu vaccine and depression? I was thinking about it and my depression started several years ago which is coincidentally when I started to take the flu vaccine and I have been taking it ever since with continued depression.

Flu vaccines are given in the fall or early winter, which is when SAD typically rears it's ugly head. My depression tends to worsen when the days get shorter, but it occurs even when I don't get the vaccine. What is depressing is actually getting influenza!

Hope this helps,

Chris A.
