SSRIs for chronic pain?

Posted by Kat26 on September 2, 2002, at 6:54:42

Hello,
I had this conversation with my Dad a couple days ago. He read an article on how pain can be chronic because of something like a "pain memory" that remembers pain, and you still feel it after it is gone, because it is so ingrained in the brain or something. I told him that reminded me of my OCD and how my thoughts would get stuck. And since I got so much relief from prozac... couldn't SSRIs work for chronic pain too?
See, my Dad had those backaches and they have been really bad.
What do you think?
