Effexor Withdrawal - One perspective...

Posted by Coffee on August 24, 2002, at 21:21:43

I was on Effexor XR for 2 years. The withdrawal was gruesome. I felt absolutely awful for over two weeks. Couldn't function at all for most of that period. It took a couple of more weeks before I felt like I had really recovered. BUT....it worked well for my depression for 2 years. That is a long time! I would gladly sacrifice that two weeks + over again for those decent two years. My feeling: Don't worry too much about withrawal symptoms when starting a new drug. In the long run the withrawal period may be relatively short compared to the time the med is useful.
