Bipolar treatments for Atypical Depressives?

Posted by jrbecker on August 20, 2002, at 13:17:09

Hey all-

wondering if any fellow atypical depressive sufferers such as myself have had any success with bipolar treatments over and above SSRI's, MAOI's, etc. Like seemingly many atypical people, I have "soft" bipolar II symptoms (perhaps I could be cyclothymic, the BP 3 diagnosis, who knows).

So I'm wondering if anybody's has more success with BP meds like lithium, Lamictal, etc. Would love to know how they stack up.

PS- never tried an anticonvulsant except Neurontin (gabapentin), so my knowledge of what they feel like is minimal.
