It may depend on the generic equivalent you have on hand. If there are discrepencies that are major in quality, that could be the problem. Vicodin, Lortab are just a couple of the brand names with hydrocodone. After recently having surgery, the generic seemed to work fine for me....but I have always taken the generic. In theory, it should be the same, but it is well known that Ritalin and generic methylphenadate can vary greatly from person to person. Sorry I cannot give a better answer.....best of luck
