A Case Study on Benzo's and Alcoholism

Posted by Mr. Scott on July 8, 2002, at 21:06:59

My friend has taken Klonopin 1.0 mg for 12+ years and has been in AA for over 20 years without a relapse to alcohol. He also takes 37.5mg of Efexor IR. He was originally diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder (when that diagnosis was popular)and his doctor now says he is also a touch bipolar. I personally think he has dysphoric hypomania or some kind of out of control negative energy whatever you want to call it. He is clearly psychologically dependent on the Klonopin, but has never raised the dosage. I'm just posting this because I always hear all or nothing statements posted here, and clearly exception is the rule in some cases.
