Combo working, but need to change

Posted by Lini on July 3, 2002, at 12:32:52

Long time no post on PB, but I am a faithful lurker, just haven't been on enough drugs yet to add much! I do have a question though -

I am currently on 100mg of Wellbutrin (not SR) and 50 mg of Zoloft. This combination has really helped and I am in a much better place than a few months ago. However, I have also gained too much weight(30 pounds in 6 months - I am 5'2" !!!!), despite exercise and diet efforts etc. I know this is not the best thing to focus on, but it does bother me to the point that I need to change the medication combo I am on. I am planning to take myself off the Zoloft. After reading the archives, I know that this will need to be a gradual process. This week I have started taking .25g of Zoloft and 200g of Wellbutrin. next week, I plan to halve .25g and move up to 300g of Wellbutrin.

My question is this, has anyone experienced weight loss by simply cutting back on their SSRI dosage? or does it require a complete stop. I don't want to be on Zoloft forever anyway . . . but was just wondering if simply reducing one and upping the other would help . . . Thoughts?
