Denise, your attitude is a good one to take about meds - "I'll just try not to expect anything and then I won't be disappointed if they don't work." It's how I feel. I'm very cynical about medications & supplements. There's either so much false marketing hype with supplements, or for meds, something can have such varied reactions in different people. So I never 'expect' something to work.
Seriously, I fully expect it NOT to work instead, so if I do start feeling better, I don't even attribute it to what I'm taking initially. I'll look for all sorts of other reasons for the improvement as to often we forget that small events or weather can make us feel temporarily better.
Then when I continue to feel good or get even better over a period of weeks, I'll finally think whatever it is actually may work. This way I can always discount any placebo effect. I try to take a very objective view of my condition to rationally judge what works best.
What strength are you taking though? If the dose is too low & you would normally need a larger dose, you may not feel much different & simply assume it doesn't work when, in actuality, it might. I felt nothing at one 300 mg tablet a day. Two made me feel better but I was still quite sleepy, & while happier, not realy content. Three is just right for me.
