> Hi can anyone enlighten me on the differences between clomipramine and zoloft. I know that zoloft is an ssri and clomipramine is a tryciclic. When I am looking at a chart about neurotranmitters, it lists both drugs as having the same effect on 5ht(hydroyxtryptamine) reuptake yet the blockade of 5HT (1) is 1,000-10,000 for clomipramine and 10,000-100,000 for zoloft. So how could both drugs be said to have the same effect on seratonin reuptake. (Confused)-Tinker pS All answers appreciated.

Hi,

There is *a lot more* to the picture than those numbers (what exactly are the
units on them anyways????).

I'm not familiar with those numbers, the medicine's active metabolites,
1/2 lifes, therapeutic doses. These all come into play.

Read this column for edification if you want. It's not on Clomipramine, it's a comparison of
the dopamine reuptake properties of Wellbutrin and Zoloft:
