I don't get angst-ridden like you but when I was using Dexedrine (before my adrafinil) I would find that while Dexedrine helped my focus & kept me alert & awake, it would sometimes make me a little too jittery (I'm ADHD) & the combo of stim with BZD felt the best for me - calm & alert/focused. They didn't serve to cancel each other out but complimented each instead.
