In reply to Widespread pain coming from depression ?!, posted by ben on May 4, 2002, at 13:17:07
> I do have widespread body pain (legs and arms) probably not fibromyalgia but perhaps of neuropathic cause - not known at the moment ! Many many tests (blood including rheumatic disorders and all hormones, x-ray, NCS, EMG) have been made without any results, so my pdoc sees it as symptom of my depression !? I was in good period of mood since long ago developing pain (5 months ago) in the lower limbs an arms...burning, pins and needles, stitching... worsening during the day.
> Is this a somatization disorder or should this diagnosis not been made if there is a long standing depression ? Now I fight more than two years against my depression and when it seems to get really better I developed chronic pain - this has relapsed me back in depression ! I cant imagine such awfull pain coming from the brain !? Especially because it isnt headache, back pain, stomach pain or something else often seen in psychosomatic illnesses.
> Tried several ADs (SSRIs, TCAs, Remeron, Manerix, Edronax...) during two years and now my pdoc wants me to put on Efexor/ Desyrel.
> Any ideas suggestions, thoughts, inputs or comments.
> That would bee fine ! Thanks a lotI have found that .5 mg of Klonopin helps with pain, sleep, anxiety, etc. When I don't take it the pain in my neck is a "pain in the neck!" Then I might have pain in my chest. AD's give me much pain so I take the smallest dose possible and now take 10 mg Celexa. Maybe Effexor & Desyrel are similar to Celexa/Klonopin. Hope you find the right combo.
