> Good day fellow people suffering from mental health problems. As some may know, i am an eighteen year old who has social phobia with some dysthimia. My syptoms are all greatly increased when i smoke pot. I become way more self conscious and generally shy then i already am, and my depression, lack of motivation and general anxiety also increase. I know that many others get just the opposite effect.

> Now for my theory. I recently stumbled across a recent study which claimed that they found a chemical in marijuana called amantadine which upon binding of its receptors, has a direct effect on deceasing dopamine transmission. This chemical is naturally found in the body. When its receptor sights were blocked in rats, the rats developed some symptoms similar to those of schizophrenia. It also stated some schizophrenics find relief from smoking pot. Although i have heard conflicting info on the prievious statement, i have heard bits and peices that would support my other theories. For example, my friend who has some mild schizophrenia says that pot makes him much more relaxed while i get just the opposite. This brings in the idea of how amisulpride possibly works. I have read that low doses of amisulpride actually increase dopamine transmission. On the real life level, amisulpride can directly combat dysthimia, social anxiety, and mild g.a.d. Im finding this all very interesting and the possibility that amisulpride could help me seems more evident. Like i said i know this does not aply to everyone, but the fact that i have failed to respond to even the strongest sp drugs(nardil, adrafinil, klonopin) which act on gaba, serotonin, and alpha adrenic, raises the possiblity that amisulpride could be quite effective in this kind of social anxiety. Now, I would love to hear any feedback. Dont be afraid to counter my ideas because i know im no expert, but i want to see what others think.

Hi,

I smoked a little pot when I was 15-20 and had similar effects as you. Increased anxiety and social phobia. I am now 45 and for 8 months have been taking 50mg amisulpride by itself. I had noticable improvement with social functioning by day 8. It's continued effects are very mild, but consistent. At $25 a month I feel it's worth the small improvement.
