I found that Geodon has had a definite antidepressant component. I have been on it for a year now during which time I have re-discovered former aspects of my life that gave me pleasure, like I can "hear" music again and "feel" love again. I also started on Mirapex 9 months ago, so some of the benefits are a result of that, too, but I did feel the effects of the Geodon within a month. I also have done better at 40 mg. than at 100 mg.and have no noticable side effects, like I had at a higher dose (restlessness, drowsiness, mostly and weird dreams).I recall that Dr. Ivan Goldberg (of Dr. Ivan's Depression Central) mentioned to me in an e-mail that his bipolar patients did better ona lower dose, too.

Someone once posted an explanation of this phenonomen. Maybe it has something to do with the principle of partial agonism/antagonism of serotonin at different doses.
