Wellbutrin blocks the reuptake of dopamine but the body will react by releasing more ensymes to break it down & reduce production. the body always tries to maintain a certain balance of neurotransmitters healthy or not. To get long term benefit you need to circumvent the balance mechanism. that usually means blocking its breakdown or taking protein precursers such as phenylalnine or in the case of parkinsons disoder Levodopa. Selegiline does this very well but for depression needs augmentation with phenylalanine or phenylethylamine (PEA), especially when taken at low doses. At higher doses dietary restictions come into play. There is some disagreement where that occures but all agree that 10 mg is safe.
