Tyramine MAO Diet Restrictions

Posted by jsarirose on March 1, 2002, at 2:37:38

I've been on Parnate for several months and just recently had my first two reactions. Now I'm getting paranoid and re-reading all the literature. (I still don't know what caused the second one.)

I have two questions:

1) Are raisins and other dried fruits okay? Technically they aren't fresh, frozen or canned like many lists require. But they aren't rotten either.

2) I'm confused by the yeast restriction. Exactly what type of yeast is forbidden and what are some examples of what that yeast is found in. For example, I seem to be fine on various types of bread. And I was fine eating Ramen soup which has a yeast extract. But now I'm paranoid and worried about eating any more soups with any yeast in them. What type is should I look out for?

Thanks,
Jessica
