I think there is some truth to it. It may depend how you body metabolizes the imipramine ...... if you have high levels of imipramine and low levels of the one metabolites, desipramine, it will probably be sedating. I myself had low levels of imipramine and high levels of desipramine and found the drug activating. I think the higher the level of desipramine in the body, the more activating. And desipramine is much more activating that pamelor.
