90 mg prozac and still little response

Posted by dave_fox on December 19, 2001, at 17:10:33

My friend is taking 90 mg Prozac (mainly for her OCD) and has had little response and has no side effects.

I guess her genetic makeup is such that Prozac does not have an effect on her as it does to most other people.

Should she try higher doses?

Or is it the case that of 90 mg is doing very little then her body would not respond to a higher dose.

I have heard that one can potentiate Prozac with anafranil but as the two may be synergistic then I guess this needs to be done very carefully. Is it time for this "mixed med" approach?

She has tried other SSRIs but found she could not tolerate 20 mg paroxetine (Paxil). She also did not get on with citalopram.

Thanks for any feedback guys!
