is hyperthymya connected to BP at all?

Posted by Anna Laura on December 19, 2001, at 0:08:07

I've done a few researches on the net for hyperhymia (which is a kind of mild hypomania within normal ranges of social and working functioning) and found that it could be considered as a condition belonging to the bipolar II spectrum.
I've been hyperthymic all my life through before getting depressed and i somehow sense it's still there even though i'm dhysthymic; subtle signs of it show up as soon as i feel better, even though it happens only for very short periods.
Do you think this could be an evidence for a treatment with mood stabilizers? Are any of you been diagnosed as bipolar II or III since they've been hyperthymic? Are mood stabilizers contraindicated for people suffering from anhedonia since they might sometimes flatten the affect ?

Thanks in advance
