Katey,
I have a very similar sleep pattern when I get depressed. When my depression is better managed, I tend to not have the middle of the night wakenings where I can't resume sleeping.

ANYWAY, I tried 25 mgs of Trazodone (an older AD, similar to a tricyclic, but supposed to have less side effects!) last night that was prescibed for me last year. I wish I had thrown the stuff out. I still awoke at 3 am, but was plagued by feeling light headed and nauseated. So now I wasn't just awake, I was awake and feeling miserable. I tossed and turned and kept hydrating, so I didn't faint in bed(!), and finally sleep in the early am hours as usual(7a-9a). BUT, all day I have been dragging and nauseated/upset stomach. Major hangover.

In all fairness, I am very drug sensitive, but I am not sure that trazodone is a good med for folks who have this middle of the night wakening...
So bottom line, I am of NO HELP, just wanted to share my story(mistake!)about last night.

Let us know if you find something to help you sleep.

> i was wondering if most people on welbutrin and/or prozac have a lot of trouble sleeping? i have no problem falling asleep, its staying asleep after about five hours that gets me. this morning for instance, i woke up at 2am, 2:30am, 3:15am, 3:45am, 4:15am, 4:45am, 5:45am, 6:30am, this was when i got up and got blankets because i was shivering, went back to sleep around 7am and woke up about 9am. excruciatingly painful. somewhere in the three o'clock wakings i came up with the idea of taking my welbutrin in the morning(gives me energy) and my prozac at night (sedates me) think it will work? my other thought is asking my pdoc for something to help me sleep when i go back in two weeks.
