Dreamy _ In the usually therapeutic range (37.5mg to 450mg/day) Effexor™ (venlafaxine) blocks the reuptake of serotonin, and to a lesser extent norepinephrine. It can be classified as an antidepressant and anti-anxiety agent. It probably should be called a "mood modifying agent." In reality, Effexor has no real anti-psychotic activity, as it does not block dopamine-D2 receptors, which is generally the accepted definition of an antipsychotic agent. Blocking D2 receptors relieves psychoses. - Cam
