What undergrad degree is recommended for psychiatr

Posted by 3 Beer Effect on September 26, 2001, at 1:20:31

I am about to graduate, but recently started doing extensive reading about psychopharmacology recently since I started taking an anti-depressant & have found that I like psychiatry much better than my current major of government/geography dual major. So I am thinking about getting a 3rd undergraduate degree, & then going to medical school to become a psychiatrist. What undergraduate degree do medical schools look for for psychiatry?-- I would think psychology, being in the liberal arts, is too lightweight a degree for medical school. I am interested more in psychpharmacology- I am somewhat skeptical of therapists/psychologists and of therapy without medication for moderate to severe depression. Biochemistry? Pharmacy? Biology? Chemistry?
