Both of these strategies have been lined-up next. My doctor suggested the idea of adding citalopram (Celexa). I am to add ziprasidone (Geodon) tonight. Another poster had his greatest success adding Geodon to Effexor. Unfortunately, he felt it necessary to discontinue it due to the emergence of EPS.
I am not sure, but it is possible that Effexor 300mg is contributing to a mild improvement I have experienced over the last week or so. However, nortriptyline and Lamictal are probably responsible for most of it. 450mg didn’t seem to help any more than 300mg, but I am not going to disqualify that dosage from trials with additional drugs.
If you don’t mind my asking, what is your current treatment regimen? How long did it take for Geodon to kick-in? What were your initial reactions to Geodon? Did you feel sleepy or sedated after your first dose? What about excitation or insomnia? If Geodon does not prove helpful, I will probably switch to Zyprexa. A number of few weeks ago, I tried a single dosage of Geodon. I felt sedated and crappy for the rest of the day.

If I can’t squeeze enough juice out of Effexor, I might exchange it for Nardil (phenelzine).
Damn. I thought Effexor was going to do it for me. Anger and frustration.
