Remeron:early side effects

Posted by DonnaMM on August 3, 2001, at 14:00:41

Hi: I started Remeron 4 days ago. The doctor prescribed 30 mg and said to try 15mg the first night. I did and within 1/2 hr I was out of it and went to bed but didn't sleep well. Was very groggy all next day. Read here how others found that the higher doses help to feel less groggy so next three nights I tried 30 mg 1 hr before bed. Not as tired right after taking it but I sleep 10 hrs and still can't get up. Groggy all day until evening. Starving and have gained 2 lbs but it may be from water as I also feel swollen up and can see it in my face. My body feels like it was filled with sand and my muscles ache (I also have fibromyalgia). I also take 500 mg Depakote for pain and irritability and a sleep med Imovane. My questions are: has anyone had the same symptoms or combo of grogginess, heavy body, sore muscles, swelling, difficulty falling asleep even though you are exhausted feelings and did they go away and in how long? I have tried numerous other anti-depressants over the last 8 years and the fatigue side effect is the most common and this always gets worse over time or I get the opposite and feel like I have had ten cups of coffee (eg wellbutrin).I guess I am very med sensitive. Also considering taking the Remeron in the morning instead of before bed because it seems to delay my going to sleep and I feel more groggy 10+ hours after taking it. Thanks!
