Dear Cecilia,
I'm a little fuzzy re Buspar-I recall reading as you point out that Buspar decreases serotonin neuronal activity but I also have read that it's a serotonin 5-HT1A agonist, as well as having other effects. It did nothing for me either(except reduce my bank account).
I had ECT over 30 years ago and after the 4th or 5th treatment I began to have smell hallucinations which I had never had before-and still have, so I share your reluctance regarding that! (although many have been helped by ECT-but the relapse rate is high).
Tianeptine did what every other antidepressant does to me-terrible anxiety, worseningof OCD. I'm going to try to ride out this depression for a while on just clonzepam as a stabilizer-anxiolytic.
Hope by the time you read this you're feeling better.
